Did you know that February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month? Unfortunately, teen dating violence โ€œimpacts 1 in 3 teens, and out of those affected, only 33% tell anyoneโ€, as shared by Jenny Schoenwetter, executive director and CEO of Harbor House.

To help spread awareness of Teen Dating Violence and empower those in our community, Harbor House is offering special events all throughout the month of February, many of which are done in collaboration with other local organizations including the Kankakee Public Library, City Life Center, and Kankakee County Stateโ€™s Attorney.

Harbor Houseโ€™s free events include โ€œLove Isโ€ฆโ€ Youth Spoken Word Showcase on February 18th,, Bowling Against Bullying, Iroquois County on February 19th, and Bullying Against Bullying, Kankakee County on February 26th. For more information on Harbor Houseโ€™s Teen Dating Violence Awareness events, including times and location, please visit https://www.harborhousedv.org/about/events/.

In addition to the organizationโ€™s special events, Harbor House will also be making visits at local schools across Kankakee and Iroquois county and conducting educational presentations and activities.
