This year, Valentine’s Day is not only about spreading love, but also about spreading awareness, specifically about awareness of Teen Dating Violence. On February 18th from 4pm to 6pm, Harbor House will be hosting “Love Is…”, a youth spoken-word showcase. The event is held in collaboration with the Illinois Coalition for Community Services, the Kankakee Public Library, the Kankakee County’s State Attorney’s Office, and the City Life Street’s to Work Program and will be held at the City Life Center.
Young adults between the ages of 12 and 25 are invited to perform in the spoken-word showcase. Jeronimo Speaks, spoken-word and hip hop artist will be present to emcee the event and perform as well. The event will also include free raffles and catering provided by Kountry Gurlz Kitchen.
“Love Is…” is free to the community and open to all. If you’d like to register to perform or would like to learn more about the event, please visit harborhousedv.org/events.
