Kankakee County Sherriff’s Office Giving Away Free Steering Wheel Locks

Do you drive a Hyundai or Kia? Well, you’re in luck! The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force, in collaboration with Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors, are giving away steering wheel locks. To help combat recent Hyundai and Kia thefts, steering wheel locks will be given away free of charge to Kankakee County residents. 

Those interested in acquiring a steering wheel lock must schedule a pick-up time by calling 815-802-7164. Individuals must provide proof of insurance and vehicle identification information. There are a limited number of steering wheel locks available and will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
